description
This is an unusual obi. On the front is an image of the Heien Princess(as shown) and two further images towards the other end of the obi. It appears that the piece was originally intended to be a Nagoya obi but for some reason didn't quite get there. The images have been pieced rather than appliqued and have been expertly done. The maple leaves have been hand stitched with a sashiko stitch. The reverse of the obi is a maroon colour. The front is pale pink, blue and deep pink. It does not have a stiff core and appears to be made of a cotton/linen.
