I have been machine sewing since I was seven when I learned to operate a treadle sewing machine. I made and designed clothes and soft toys for my children and designed costumes for dance and skating. However, I have recently taken up quilting and am particularly interested in designing and making one-of-a-kind art quilts for family members. I still work part-time and have numerous other hobbies that I am not willing to give up. I have been buying stash for years (I have 3 yards of silk velvet that is 51 years old - still waiting for the perfect inspiration!) with an interest in Japanese cottons, Indian silks, batiks, other ethnic textiles and anything colourful ( I am not a pastel person).
