This lovely sample bolt is from the 40-50s and consists of 53 different, but complimentary, kimono fabrics separated by a thin white line of white silk crepe. This bolt of fine silk crepe with the fabric samples being about 7 x 14 inches each. There are no seams as this is one continuous roll. There are 13 different patterns in four different colours of pink, white, red and blue. Sample bolts were made as a type of swatch book from which customers could choose the fabric for their next kimono. They were produced up until the 1970s. This bolt is in excellent condition and would make a lovely quilt, wall hanging or other project.
